October

Though we had a blast in Arizona and having so much family, I was really happy just to be home and ease back into our slower paced Texan lifestyle.

Marc and I went out on date! We had Sushi then walked over to Fabled Bookstore and read some spooky Halloween short stories and some hilarious pieces on the United States. (You can’t end on a scary note… laughter is always best)
What a cute little apartment crew!

We had a fun morning on a cooler day riding boxes down the hill- Texas toboggan racing!

We had more trips to the zoo.

We got “Booed” by the Taylors and that really got the ball rolling for the spooky season at our house

Q: What is a ghost favorite pants? A: Levi BOO jeans!

We had a really fun Saturday morning with the Walker Family getting donuts and visiting the cutest little pumpkin patch

The sign reads, “The only ghost that lives here is the Holy Ghost.” On my. I love living in Texas!

My Young Women’s class was in charge of the combined Wednesday night activity, so we planned an Office themed murder mystery. It turned out pretty fantastic! Complete with a stapler in jello. I thought the ending turned out so well I wanted to put it all down here…

The murderer is….. The Security Guy!!! From The Security Guy’s desk you would see that even though he is a humble security guard he has a masters degree in Business Management. And there was also an office money spreadsheet on his desk where the Security Guy found that The Boss was embezzling, aka stealing, money from the company. So The Security Guard went to confront The Boss about the money he was stealing. From the note on the receptionist desk you learned that The Security Guy and The Boss are brothers. The Security Guy threatened to tell Corporate about the money and how he, The Security Guy, is much more qualified to be the boss. The conversation got heated, resulting in blows and The Security Guy stabbed The Boss with one of his perfectly lined up ball point pens. And that is how The Boss died.

Now, this was a crazy made up story. That is actually loosely based off of a real story. About how a man in a high ranking position was murdered also in his office, known as the Judgment Seat. By his brother, in cold blood. And there were actually five men sent to see what happened to the Chief Judge. The five men found the Chief Judge laying in his own blood on the judgment seat. And the the prophet Nephi was in the city there teaching the people and was accused for the murder. But Nephi, being filled with the Spirit, solved the murder and helped get the real killer arrested. You can read all about it in The Book of Helaman chapters 8-10.

And having the Spirit in our lives will help us find the “real clues” that will help take the mystery out of our real day questions and problems. President Nelson says so, – “I promise you that if you will sincerely and persistently do the spiritual work needed to develop the crucial, spiritual skill of learning how to hear the whisperings of the Holy Ghost, you will have all the direction you will ever need in your life

We tried our hand at a few new baked goodies like homemade pretzels with caramel sauce and queso, homemade cream pie cookies, pumpkin donuts, and caramel filled churros.

We had several Sunday morning walks to get wiggles out before church
And some Sunday afternoon walks to get those afternoon wiggles out

We ate lots of pancakes…

And lots of snuggles

We moved to a bottom floor apartment on the other side of the pool. It is such an ease on my nerves and stress not worrying about a downstairs neighbor banging on their ceiling everyday. And my kids now jump around like crazy animals in peace.

Our apartment complex had a trunk or treat on the 30th so we did the loop with some our favorite Icon friends.

We had two sparkle mermaids and a ferocious lion! “Rawwwww” is one of the few words Levi can say, so it felt very appropriate.
I asked her to pose.. Such sass for a mermaid on land

And this was Hazel’s pose…

We didn’t have a trick or treat basket, so the kids carried around a Taco Bell box like the classy parents we are #winning
On the big day, we went trick or treating with some of our Texas favorites, the Valenzuela Family!
The weather was perfect (which is saying something because it was a solid 45 degrees and raining the first half of the week) with cotton floss clouds
I love Nicole! She has been such a blessing of a friend
