Dental school friends visit

Marc graduated in the height of covid so there were no graduation parties, farewells, or goodbyes with our dental school buddies that we had been together with the last four years. So when two of our dental school favorites asked if they could come visit us, we went all Mr. Kool-Aid, “OH YEAH!”

For weeks before they came Hazel would ask every morning, “Is today when Huong and Chandani come??”

The girls had a princess birthday party the morning our guest arrived, so Ruby and Hazel came to the airport all decked out in their best Elsa and Anna.

Then we went and picked up our friends at the airport with personal “Welcome Dr. —“ signs.

Next, we ate our fill at Union Hall where we sampled just about every restaurant. Then home to a family movie night of Second Hand Lions.

Sunday, we attempted to be quiet as we got ready for church. Let’s just say, if it was The Quiet Place we would all have died. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Luckily, our guest slept through it and snoozed till we got home.

Then we had a lazy afternoon of riding scooters, Chandani helped Ruby write a letter to a friend, magnet towers, puzzles, and vegan crunch wrap supremes.

Then at bedtime, we all smushed in the girls room in beds and on the floor for happy time, family prayer, and Marc read a chapter of Percy Jackson.

After the babes were snoozing, we played several cut throat rounds of Settlers of Catan. Then we taught our friends how to play our favorite quarantine game, Cover Your Assets. It didn’t take long for them to get the hang of stealing valuables left and right.

We stayed up late as we laughed over our rock and sheep strategies, they all gabbed about dentistry, we got caught up on each others families, and we all shared about our lives in our various cities. Oh happy day.

Ruby was telling me, “I don’t normally have butterflies on my face, but this time I did.”

Monday, in true Waco fashion, we did all the Magnolia things.

We played in Chip’s Wiffleball field
Nothing like being outside for the last day that breaks 100 for the summer… so hot. Still so fun.

Then it was over too soon, and we dropped them back off at the airport with some big hugs. And maybe some tears. Till next time friends!
