Marc the birthday boy

Thirty feels very momentous. And I just really love this man of mine! So here are 30 things I love about Marc (in no particular order)

1. He is kind.

2. He is endlessly patient with me

3. He has the best singing voice

4. His handsome face

5. His amazing ability to step into a recipe I’m stuck on when I say, “I don’t know what it needs.” And he will taste, add, and mix things in till it is just right. And we just love food together: eating food, dissecting and analyzing food, making food, watching food tv shows…

6. Marc can make up fantastic stories on the spot while spoon feeding stubborn children and pause at critical plot points to shove the next bite in said hungry child (hungry for food and also hungry to know what happens next)

7. Marc can read, watch, or listen to a story, commercial, jingle, article etc one time and can then retell it in crazy fine detail, usually better than the original.

8. He is a good listener

9. Marc is an amazing father. Ruby, Hazel and Levi are so lucky to have him

10. He is a top notch dentist doctor man

11. Marc is a stupid good doodler and artist

12. His accents are legendary and our kids don’t even know how lucky they are to have a dad who reads to them every night with all the voices for every character. In my head I can hear his Hagrid, Daisy from Summer of the Monkeys (now how’s my patient this morning?!), Reepicheep from Narnia and Gollum for Ned’s Little Bed in One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

13. He makes me laugh. And when I’m in a real funk he knows that laughter is often the best medicine to bring me back.

14. We get each other jokes, one liners, and can time to time finish each other’s sentences.

15. I love cuddling on the couch and holding his hand.

16. I love the ease of conversation between us. Especially when we are out on a walk together. We talk best together when we are walking.

17. I love his undying love, passion and commitment to me and our marriage

18. Marc is a fantastic pizza maker

19. Marc is honest as the day is long. I know Marc will always give his best and would never cheat a test, program or person.

20. Marc has real solid faith in Jesus Christ.

21. He loves to watch superhero movies and shows with me and never gets mad when I ask questions. And with the same excitement watches baking shows and chick flicks.

22. He is the fun Marc

23. Marc is the best primary chorister ever. Period.

24. Marc is a voracious reader.

25. Marc is a great cheerleader and hype man

26. Even when he is totally asleep, I can roll over in the middle of the night and say, “I love you.” And he always responds back with, “I love you too.”
