Texas week 7

On Sunday church was at home this week. And I’m glad it was. I was happy to just be home and hold my people. The focus of our Sunday lesson with the kids was, “ by small and simple things are great things come to pass.” So we talked about small things like being kind can make a big difference. And then I taught an art class on Pointallism (dot painting) and we made big pictures of trees using small dots to color them.

Tuesday night I had a lot of things on my mind; consequently, I spent a lot of time on my knees. There was lots of discussion, laying out the facts, talking about details; talking about fears and dreams, and in the end giving it all back to God and letting Him know, that I know, He knows what is best for me and my little family.

Tuesday morning I was stretching in the family room when Ruby came busting out of her room, “Mom, can we please go outside and look at the beautiful sun coming up!” How do you say no to that?

Wednesday. I forgot. I forgot the joy I get from practicing yoga. I pulled up a YouTube video and did a serious flow. My body needs the directed deep breathing and gentle reminder to engage all my muscles. I am so grateful I made the habit at the end of my yoga classes that when I take rest on my mat I lay perfectly still and hold some time to meditate and go head to toe expressing gratitude for the individual parts of my body and how they bless my life. Wednesday morning I had go head to toe twice. The first time my brain was still buzzing, I am out of practice. It felt like my insides were resisting to be still. Then when I started my gratitude practice again at my head, it clicked. There was calm and beautiful stillness. There was a wave of gratitude and more details and blessing my body provides flooded my mind. Namaste.

Man do we love the splash pad! Unlike the pool, it’s. Complete even playing field for all the kids who get the same free range of freedom (as long as they stay on the water pad. I’m looking at you Levi! He keeps me on my toes while I try to keep him in the water and out of the pokey grass).

Haze and her clever and hilarious “cup shoes”.

There were several more afternoons of water painting.

This happy boy even managed to try out the green paint…

We finished reading the BFG by Ronald Dahl this week. So to celebrate we took the family to Fabled Bookstore where we got the girls their own cup of Frobscottle, just like in the story. Coolest bookstore ever! Ruby was a little apprehensive at first because she was worried the soda would make her fly like it did in the story. We explained it was not magical like the story, though it did have pop rocks in it, which made it much more exciting.

Levi has very mixed feelings about this soda… but kept asking for more.
We spent some time in the kids room reading some of our favorites.
Down town Waco is just covered in cute murals like this one.

Friday afternoon we spent playing several serious rounds of hide and go seek. Ever round ending in giggles and with one or all of my kids on top of me.
