It has actually been a really great week. Our kids are still too little to have to stress about school, because school everywhere has been canceled till at least the middle of April, and Marc is on break. So most days are only To-Do is to go for walks, play outside and sanitize down the house after the kids go to bed.
I’m not going to lie, I have good waves of anxiety on the daily. It feels a little like the world has turned on its head and if you look at any news or go to the grocery store you would think we were all living in a zombie apocalypse. But there is also a lot of good and kindness going on too.
We participated in the “chalk the walk” movement to sidewalk chalk happy things while more people are out walking during the day.
Ruby requested a prince and princess in a castle with a white unicorn.
Hazel wanted the bad pony from My Little Pony. (
I can handle the royal family and castle, but Marc is the official drawer of ponies and the like).
I’m taking a free course on stop motion video and one of our favorite children’s authors is doing a daily doodling course for kids, thanks Mo Willems! With this global freak out people in general have bumped up their human kindness, everyone waves as they drive by, stops to say hello, neighbors are checking in.
Saturday we had a pizza night!
And it went so well we decided that we will make it a thing while in quarantine.
It’s nice to have something to look forward to while all the days can easily all blend together without the normal things like church and school to differentiate the week.
Every afternoon we play Cover Your Assets out in the yard with Eve, Hyrum, and Micah. We bring the cards and they bring a snack, like a giant bag of goldfish or a bag of pretzels, to occupy the babies while we play. Levi plays happily on the blanket or sitting on my lap with the card box or small toy but we all know to feed the Baby Buddha when he starts getting fussy.
