Birthday cake sugar cookies

One of my cute cute Canadian cousins started a baking Instagram page and I have been swooning over her pies, cookies, and bakes. And today she shared her birthday cake sugar cookies with buttercream frosting. How could we not?

Yes, it does look like those cookies spell “po”

So we turned our afternoon into a sugar cookie party with Grammy Sha Sha! The girls were exceptionally happy to eat the cookie dough scraps from when the cookies were cut. And the frosting really does taste like birthday cake! The secret, white cake mix in the frosting. Crazy.

The picture does not do justice of how pink ALL of her fingers were. And when I went and looked at her cookie, all that pink was from one tiny bite.

While we were waiting for the cookies to cool so we could frost our handy work, I was showing my mom a video when Ruby, freaking out, grabbed my hand “I’m going to throw up! I need you to come to the bathroom!”As we rushed to the bathroom I yelled “Noooooo!! We are NOT doing this again!” (We just got over a week of sick at our house). Turns out naughty Ruby got into the salt shaker again… and it will hurt your stomach every time. Wah wah wah. Walking back in the kitchen my mom was just laughing at both of our dramatics.

Obviously professional cookie makers we are not. But it was super fun and we got some Valentine’s sugar cookie pre-game practice in.

And in other adorable news from the day, my cute girls reading together during nap time. I’m finally brave enough to nap them together. That or they are finally old enough to be bribed with cookies to stay in bed and sleep.

Ruby said family prayers tonight, “Thank you so much we could make cookies and that we can spread out the gospel.” These are the days people.
