I have learned that when the girls are part of making a meal they are happier eating it without a fuss. Though they are pretty good eaters. Tonight we had a great lesson about cooking noodles. We had the Trader Joe’s linguine noodles that are so delicious mmmmm.

So first, we checked out the dry noodles and talked about the texture and we snapped several. Hazel especially liked breaking them. Then we discussed what boiling water is- the heat, bubbles, and watched it get to a rolling boil. Then I went on about what al dente noodles are so we tasted the noodles at multiple stages of cooking. Using a colander is never so exciting than with toddlers. Oooh ahhh and steam. Then we dumped the noodles in with our spicy sausage, cooked zucchini, and fresh grated Parmesan cheese. Everyone was happy.

Marc got home a little late so we went to play outside to pass the time. The girls love to whizz by on the Plasma Cars.

Then we went on the porch swing as the sun was setting and the girls told me how we were being chased by a beast (like Beauty and the Beast). Whenever the beast got to close the swing would get really rocky.

Watching the clock we went back in the backyard to try to surprise Marc by the back gate. We are not very good at being sneaky. Every time Marc gets close Hazel shouts, “It’s my Dad!!”
