Ruby came running in my room a little after six am, “Mommmmmmmmmmmm!!” And from her room I could hear Hazel screaming from her crib.
Ruby, “Mom! Hazel won’t stop!” As she angrily shook a unicorn stuffed animal in her clenched fist. Then I calmly asked if she took that unicorn from Hazel? “Ummmmm.” Looks guilty and nods. So I got out of bed to save Hazel from her cribbed confinement to learn that Hazel wouldn’t stop saying “Tamatoa” (the giant crab from Moana) over and over again, and it was scaring Ruby (🤦🏼♀️) therefore, she stole Hazel’s unicorn.

I laughed. Hard. And then helped them hug it out.
(the girls just playing in the backyard talking about Moana)Then later in the week, Ruby, unfortunately, peed her bed during nap time. So I put her bedding in the wash. But we stayed too late at Jojo’s house and it was still wet at bed time which meant no favorite pink blanket, foxy blanket, or big pink blanket. I tried to give her the reddish orange blanket, made of identical material, when the light was turned off because maybe she would be fooled. Not fooled.
So when Marc went in a little while later because Ruby was very upset over her blankets. She told Marc, “this blanket is so scratchy! I can’t use it.” Marc gave her a love and tucked her back in. As he walked out Hazel cooly said, “My blankets are SO cozy.” Classic little sister move.
Ruby loves Levi so much. She likes to lay on the ground and talk to him. Adorably she is normally telling him positive affirmations, “you are so safe… we will never leave you… you are a good boy… I love you so much.” And few things bring her as much joy as making him smile. (And it is the BEST wide mouth, gummy smile around).

They have more personality everyday. Ruby feels all the feels quite passionately. And I try to remember to not always roll my eyes but think of how it will make her a more empathetic person. But Marc and I are prepping ourselves for a teenager like the middle daughter of Dan in Real Life. (The one who yells, “You are the murderer of love!”). Lord bless us. Let the good times roll.

On a side note, we have been on a baking kick over here. The girls love helping dump ingredients for cookies in the Bosch while snacking on chocolate chips and helping spread the sugars on the cinnamon rolls. They are also big fans of eating the excess brown sugar and butter that gets on the counter and we try not to taste all the dough. So Ruby, Hazel, the counters, bar stools and floor may have been covered in flour, but I remind myself that this is the “fun stuff” as we eat the cookies right out of the oven.
AND for fancy, I made rolls with mini meatballs and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. #Instafood
