Pre-conference Pancake Party

Conference weekend is one of my favorites!! The bi-annual family time to hear from the prophet in cozy clothes and snacks.

To help kickstart the weekend we had a Pre-Conference Pancake Party with Tucker and Karli and Shelly and Jaron’s families. We are part of the “Three Kid Club.” So we had 9 kids 6 and under. It was a little crazy. But no one was overwhelmed by a little screaming or running. And everyone was fed!

We got a good laugh because the whipped cream can got a little frozen in the fridge and just kept a continuous spray of cream going long after you stopped pushing the nozzle. Marc has several goes with the whipped cream. It made the pancake to whipped cream ration much much sweeter. And when Eli came in the kitchen just wanting a swig of maple syrup, so Tucker made him tilt his head back and poured it straight in. Marc quickly added, “Careful, if you pour too much he might turn Canadian on you.”

Between us mom’s, we all came up with a few activities and each made a set for the other families to help distract/ occupy our small people during conference. So we all walked away with about 10 small activists! #thanksPinterest

I love Shelly and Karli. I love how we have similar goals for our families and we all find serious joy in being moms. Even though our kids can and do drive us crazy at least for part of everyday, we love it all the same. I love that we can all be silly together in our sea of toddlers and babies.

Top Row: Jaron, Jayden, Mikey, Shelly, Marc, Me, Levi, Karli, Caroline, & Tucker. Bottom Row: Hazel, Levi, Ruby, and Annie. Not pictured: baby Carson who was sleeping. And we let sleeping babies sleep.

We managed to take a photo altogether! I asked for it, because I am feeling nostalgic because Marc is finishing dental school in May and I want to document memories with some of my favorites.

Then we let the kids run around some more while Jaron played some Suesical Musical on the piano. And we finished the night with the kids dancing and watching Toto’s music video to Africa, thanks Tucker.

Then we all left before 7. Because that’s what you do when you all have little kids- enjoy them, feed them, play with them, then send them all to BED. And we all get it.

Saturday we watched the morning session at Shelly and Jaron’s. The kids did great! Our awesome activities were a success, and then when they got a little too rowdy we sent them all in the Arizona room. Shelly and I took turns using her nursing pillow to feed our baby boys and I think we all got something out of it. My big take away from conference was I need to be more intentional in setting specific time everyday for Jesus and reading my scriptures. Abby has a quote in her bathroom that reads, “If we’re not hungry for Christ, then we’re probably too full of ourselves”
