I knew my dad would be out of town (in Disneyland) and my Aunt Doris was really busy this week, so this morning the girls and I called up Grandma Bobbie and asked if we could take her to lunch.
Bobbie was SO excited! We got to her house a little early so the girls and I played with her toys, the toys of my childhood- the marble machine, the rocking horse with her yellow mama bear and brown baby bear, and the old school fisher price farm house.
Grandma Bobbie likes to sing primary songs in the car while we drive. She especially loved to sing Give Said the Little Steam. She told me when her kids were little she loved to sing it with them and Grandpa Tucker would always sing it to them in Spanish. She then tried to sing it for us in Spanish but could only get through the first few lines. She is the cutest.
Grandma Bobbie likes to eat at ONE restaurant, Boca Taqueria. And she gets the same thing every time: 1 salmon taco, a side of rice and beans, 2 little cups of green salsa, and 3 napkins (one for each side of her plate and one for her lap). Since she knows best I got a matching meal and I order the girls quesadilla kids meals. I had no idea the quesadillas were so big or came with such large sides of rice and beans. When the meal was all said and done, Ruby ate almost both quesadillas and Hazel ate almost both plates of rice and beans. And Grandma was just so impressed, “they both eat so well.” It was delicious and she was so happy to be there with us. AND my girls did amazing! They stayed in their chairs, ate well, and were so happy to be there. #blessings.

Then we took Bobbie to pick up a few groceries before we took her home. She wanted to “help” and hold on to the cart with me. She buys all organic produce and only likes the organic cage free eggs from the back because she is sure they haven’t been on the shelf as long as the identical ones in the front of the store.
Ruby just adores Grandma Bobbie and talks Bobbies ear off. She is a constant run of question and also information to her. She asked Bobbie probably 20 times on our way to lunch, “Grandma Bobbie, are you coming to lunch with us?” …. “Grandma Bobbie are you gunna be with us?”… “Grandma Bobbie, we are not going home. We are going to lunch!”… “my dad put a new light at home and it so bright” (Marc replaced a light bulb in the family room. Clearly it made a big impact on her morning). “Grandma Bobbie I got a Punzel toothbrush and Hazel got an Ariel one.”
I loved that Ruby insisted on holding Grandma Bobbies hand and sat next to her at the Restaurant.
