For Christmas, Abby got the two of us groupon passes to a yoga studio in town. I loved it so much I have kept going. I go to an Ashtanga class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it is one of the highlights of my week. I love the ebb and flow and pushing myself in new ways and poses.
After the 90 minutes of nonstop moment we take rest and lay on our mats on our backs with the lights off for about 10- 15 minutes and just breathe and relax. I like to take this part of the class and go through my whole body and express gratitude for each part for its function and ability it brings to my life.
Tonight when I got to my arms I thought of how my arms are strong and all they help me do that is required for good as a mom, and I had almost this look forward into my life of all these different things my arms do and will help me do in being a mother- carrying babies, rocking babies, swinging girls around, ring around the roses, so many loads of laundry, making bread and dinner and birthday cakes, tucking big kids into bed, painting walls, caring kids to the car, push ups, dancing, moping the floor on hands and knees, holding close, tickle fights, cuddling on the couch, etc. it was beautiful. And I cried silently on my mat in the dim lit studio grateful for my healthy body and strong arms and hands that help me be a mom.
