Ruby turns TWO Years old on Monday. (How?!) I will no longer have 2 babies under 2.

Before Hazel was born the idea of 2 under 2 terrified me. It made me question my sanity, all my abilities, we excitedly but nervously jumped into life with two babies.

It’s really isn’t a cake walk all the time and it’s not uncommon that the three of us all melt a little (or a lot) while I’m trying to make dinner, there are late nights, always early mornings, occasionally sick babies and sick moms, and the constant juggling act of just getting two girls in car seats in the car.
But two babies has been the best thing for Marc and I. Hard is good. And life has been oh so good. There are lots of hugs, sweet moments of watching them play together, loud dance parties, breakfast smoothies, family prayer, giggle fits, family walks, stories read (like the doggie counting book, the Pout Pout Fish, and Hand Finger Thumb Thumb), learning new words, colors, animal sounds for Ruby, and learning to sit up, try food, rolling everywhere, waving, and smiling at everyone for Hazel.

Looking back on the last seven months with both my girls my new motto is , “if I can do two under two I can do anything!” My two baby girls under two went from something scary to a badge of courage.

Other recent highlights:
Ruby discovers her shadow
The girls and I were jumping on the tramp and all of a sudden Ruby froze and stared at the tramp. Terrified- she learned she has a shadow.
Oh I giggled. Horrified, she watched and found that I also have a shadow and my shadow might touch hers.
Ruby also found this quality “bubble jar” and wand.
Hazel girl, sitting up like a big girl on the tramp.
The Golden Hour
Sometimes in the morning after Hazel eats I get a golden hour. She usually falls asleep finishing up her first breakfast , but on select early hours I get special one on one time with my baby girl. Hazel just lights up, smiles, coos, and tells me her baby stories that she saves just for me. I don’t dare put her back to bed because babies don’t stay babies forever. I even whistled and woke up Marc so he could come sit by us on the couch to be apart of it.
Holiday + Moana the soundtrack of our life
Mornings home with girls often includes breakfast smoothies, 2 dirty diapers, 3 tea parties, 1 or 2 cool fives, 4 stories, coloring, Ruby taking out the diaper trash can that turns into jumping on the tramp, and listening to Moana and Tolls Holiday 13 times- all before 9 am.
if this girl could life would be a non-stop look of Love train and Shiny.
Baby bath water
Both girls love taking baths and getting in the shower. Hazel has almost grown out of her puj bathtub. It is my favorite newborn bath item. It fits so perfectly in He bathroom sink.

Our puj days are limited but this brown haired girl is just too much.
Ruby LOVES any excuse to get in the water and shower time is no exception. She would stay in all day if I would let her.
Puppy love
Our neighbors, the Layton’s, invited us to come play with their 5 puppies! Chuck and Brownie were our favorites. Ruby is a born animal lover and she was in heaven!
we had to hold ALL the puppies. Ruby can’t quite pick one up but she tried her hardest . She would squeal with delight and clap her hands.
Squeeze the day!
My diaper bag is kept on higher ground on purpose so Ruby does not go exploring, but the other morning it was left open on the couch. Ruby reached right in and pulled out two Apple squeezies and proudly said “squeeze and Hazel!” (Translation: Mom! I got a squeezie for me and Hazel!)

The send off
I had an early church meeting a few weeks back so Marc was staying home with the girls to have a pancake party that he made. And I was walking out the door, Ruby turned around in her chair and yelled, “I LOVE YOU! See you later!!”
