My Grandpa Tucker was on of four sons, and as the saying goes – there was John the smart one, Bill the athletic one, Keith the handsome one, and Clyde. My grandpa was Keith. (I recently learned that Clyde is actually the funny one and he came up with the saying. Go figure)
Even or maybe because he had Bill the athletic one, my grandpa did not like sports, he was the handsome one after all. And he voiced his distaste in sports so much so that most of his children adopted his views. Ironically, it was not till after he dider did we find out that my grandma was a HUGE closet sports fan, and she spent so many hours in her sewing room so she could sit and listen to games on the radio.
It made me think, what ideas am I voicing and what do my actions teach my girls? Are they ideas worth spreading? What do I want them to take away?
I want my girls to know kindness matters. In all things. In my evening prayers I often ask that they can be strong, kind, and forgiving little ladies. I hope those are lessons I am living that they might take away.
