Frontloading with a grateful heart

My mom excitedly told me about how a girl who grew up in my neighborhood was moving back to AZ and how she and her husband bought a house right down the street from my parents and her parents.

And I am not proud to admit, I was thinking about it later and my thoughts turned to, “she is three years younger than me and is buying a house! We are years from buying a home.” And for a moment I considered pulling out the party hats for a small personal pitty party, but stoped and almost laughed out loud.

Sure we are renting, but it is the most ideal renting ever. (Seriously, we are so blessed). Most affordable, lots of space, landlord grandparents that adore Ruby (they keep special Ruby snacks on hand for whenever we just stop in to say hi), a pool, BBQ, and garden plots to use, 1.5 miles from my mom’s (to see Grammy and to shorten my drive when I drop Ruby off before work), a safe neighborhood, a short commute for Marc to school… the list just goes on. #blessed

I sheepishly told Marc about my petty moment. With a warm smile and squeeze to my hand he reminded me that we are frontloading now, putting in the heavy work in dental school, so we have the opportunity and availability to chase other dreams later.

I am grateful for the reminder to be thankful now for where we are because where we are is pretty fantastic.
