ONE big baby girl

Saturday was Ruby’s first birthday!! 365 days with my little ray of sunshine. Oh I love you my Ruby Mack. I will forever be grateful to you, you made me a mother.

In the morning Marc and I went in singing happpy birthday. Ruby got all star stuck and rolled around in her foxy blanket just giggling at us. Then we got up got dressed. Had tast breakfast burritos and and bottle for Ruby and dropped the birthday girl off at Papa’s so Marc and I could go to the hospital.

Earlier this week, Marc’s sister Jenny learned she has a large brain tumor and was schedule for surgery to have it removed. It was a very emotional day.

We were able to be with Jenny for 3 or so hours before she had to be prepped for surgery. Jenny is so brave . She is one of the strongest women I know. We just small talked, giggled, cried a little, and mainly just loved on her. Luckily the suregery went really well and the surgeon was able to remove all of the tumor.

Marc’s mom told us of Jenny’s first birthday and how she dove in her cake. And how she was sad to miss Ruby’s birthday party. We were going to reschedule, but Marc’s dad said there was no reason not to have a party and we needed to just keep living our lives. Plus, I think it was a nice distraction and something for Jenny’s kids to look forward to.

We had a magical unicorn birthday party! The marvelous Jojo, was our party planner. Her kiddos got the plague at their house last week and they were all under quarantine so she had all this time on her hands to help make it amazing. How old you ask? One. Unicorn cupcakes 🦄If dental school doesn’t work out for Marc, he may have a future in cake decorating… making the dough….

My shirt actually reads, “mum” that’s me, the mom of a ONE year old. The dad of the ONE year oldThere’s Papa with the birthday girl Are all these presents for me?

Ruby really did not like the idea of a smash cake. Her’s was more of a poke with serious amprehension cake. Ruby tried her hand on pin the horn on the unicorn Marc made. (Impressive)

It was a great first party! I think Ruby had a good time. It did however, have a dramatic ending with Calvin getting smacked with the teeter totter and getting a tooth dislocated and was rushed off for an emergency dental appointment. Nothing broken just a little scared, swollen, and bloody. (It’s all fun and games till someone gets a tooth knocked out)

All in all, it was a great, emotional, celebratory, mircacle filled day. Happy birthday Ruby Mack.
