My name is Ashely, and I am an Instagram addict

The first step is to admit you have a problem. I am an Instagram addict. I am a few times a day kind of user. (So not totally out of control but definitely more than needed) Today while mindlessly hopping from profiles I came across a photo with a caption that told of how the lady was tucking her daughter into bed, phone in hand, and her daughter said, “mom, your phone is your life.” Reading that made me a little sick to my stomach. I don’t want Ruby growing up ever feeling like she is second place to my phone or fight for my attention with a virtual world when I have my whole world in my arms.

So I decided as a reminder I would make my self a sticker on my label maker for the back of my phone that reads, “is this your life? Embrace what you can.”

I am listening to a great book called The Power of Habit. It is all about the science of habits, making, and breaking habits. So, I will use my new understanding and change my habit of mindless social surfing at slower life moments and make those moments memories insted.
