For Christmas Marc’s parents like to give “date nights.” So Friday we went to Texas Roadhose. Where everything is bigger, louder, heavier, and smothered in butter, cheese, or bacon. Ruby wasn’t really loving it, but she was all about those hot rolls and cinnamon butter. She is a girl after my own heart.
Saturday we went to the zoo!!
No one loves the zoo quite like the Johnsons. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the walk and the animals. But Marc is just giddy the whole time. He knows where every animal is and practically skips around, he can’t help it, it is in his blood.
He loves seeeing all the animals, he knows the names of most subspecies , where they are from, what they eat. Every exhibit is exciting. It’s pretty cute. Ruby liked the zoo, but she was a little sleepy. I hope she gets her dad’s love of learning and animals.

Saturday night we celebrated Tyler’s birthday! We love Tyler! He is our go-to man for so many things like taxes, health insurance, building projects, air plane flights, random facts, international anything, any resturaunt in Mesa, the best board games, movies, crazy stories, anything boy scout related, a good laugh, bargain shopping… you name it he does it or will figure out how.
We celebrated with brownies and Red Flag and Cards Against Humanity. It was a Tucker cousin fiesta with Norton and Rachel. Needless to say, we all laughed till we cried and there were no brownies that survived the evening.
Sunday we had a Tucker Prince dinner at Lisa and CJ’s house. The two highlights ofthe evening:
- I was waiting in line for dinner next to Grandma Bobbie and she looks at me and asked, “Are you expecting? Because your baby is pretty old and your belly is looking really big.” Oh, Grandma Bobbie. I love her. She was thrilled when I told her we are expecting our second baby in July.
- Ruby sat star stuck and CJ played the guitar and sang to her. He would change the words to Weezer and the Beatles so the songs were all about Ruby. She just stared all dazzled like and would clap along. You can tell music just speaks to her little soul.
